I’ve read many articles by authors with their advice to aspiring writers… but Hugh Howey’s blog post of this week is the best I’ve read.

I make that sweeping claim because he takes you beyond the “inspiration – perspiration” stage – the how-to’s of finding the muse and rolling up your sleeves – way further into how to establish and maintain a career as a professional writer. He talks about money – the big fat taboo that it is. He talks about finding your artistic flow. Plus he refers to underwear – a favorite theme of mine in Xamnesia! Best of all, he does all of this in 3,306 words.

I’m reading the Wool Omnibus, if you haven’t read HH yet, go right now and read it. Futurist Shakespeare mixed with those TV classics like Planet of the ApesLogan’s RunThe Maze Runner… Dune-ish yet way more real. I’ll be reading Shift and Dust next…

And print out his advice to keep by your desk. I am.
